Summary of Services - BFC Gas & Electric

The BFC Gas & Electric project is a 6 megawatt independent power plant which utilizes a biomass gasification system.  The plant is designed to use a variety of mixed industrial biomass fuels.  The fuel is processed and stored before being fed into a fluidized bed gasification system.  The gasifier provides low Btu gas to a 60,000 lb/hr, 450 psig, 825° boiler.  The steam from the boiler is supplied to a reconditioned 7 1/2 megawatt turbine generator.  All of the steam is utilized in the turbine.  The electricity generated from the facility is sold to the local utility company under a long-term contract.  The overall plant is primarily comprised of used and reconditioned equipment with the exception of the 30,000 square foot fuel processing building.  All of the equipment was purchased from existing facilities along with the gasification and boiler facility, which was previously utilized in a similar application.  The turbine generator was purchased and reconditioned from a Midwest utility company.  PES provided a variety of services to the owners of the facility, including the following:
