Summary of Services - Donlin Mine Site (Alaska) In 2002, PES was contracted with Calista Corporation through Bettine & Associates to provide a detailed report and budgetary cost analysis for placing a power production facility in the vicinity of the Donlin Creek area. The objective of this facility was to provide power for a proposed mine site in the area and also supply power to the surrounding areas, lowering the cost of electricity and offsetting the facilities cost.
The project analysis provided unique challenges due to the remote location of the power plant. PES researched the site and produced a comprehensive report and budgetary analysis for three power production facility types:
1. A coal-fired boiler facility 2. A combustion turbine combined-cycle facility 3. A slow speed diesel generation facility
The report outlined the advantages of each facility type for the location and provided the amortized cost for the two facility types best suited to the location.
PES also provided several cost saving options for each facility type and a comprehensive plan for operation and delivery of equipment and fuel the remote location. For more information see www.calistacorp.com/energy.html.
